Ashthorpe, Gorthorpe, Dodthorpe
The three frames are Ian S's Geograph photographs. The titles are the street names: Ashthorpe, Gorthorpe and Dodthorpe, each described as Orchard Park Estate, Hull. They show estate housing and the public realm around it. They are not a set of "before" pictures for a job this site sold, because this site does not sell jobs. Use them to see the kind of street: houses facing a road or a green, with parking that may be on-plot, on-street, or in a bay.
Orchard Park contains many other streets. If you live on one of these three, say so. If you live on a different close, do not let a professional assume your front matches Ashthorpe. Send your own photograph through the quote form if the form accepts one.
The estate name is shared with other Orchard Parks in Britain. The map button uses "Orchard Park, Hull" so the pin stays in this city. It loads only after a click.

Absent from the conservation list
Hull's numbered list of conservation areas includes Newland, the Avenues, Sutton Village, Garden Village and the Holderness Road pair, among others. It does not include Orchard Park. There is no estate-wide Article 4 on hard surfaces to cite. Garden Village is the place where that kind of direction was made in 2025. Copying it here would be a mistake.
Trees on a green can still be council trees, and a tree preservation order can exist anywhere, conservation area or not. GOV.UK explains orders and the separate conservation-area notice process. If a stem in the grass outside your house is in the way of a crossover, the tree is a council issue first. A paving price that includes "we'll take the tree out" without naming the owner of the tree is not a complete price.

Courts, greens and private gardens
Estate parking often sits in a court that several houses use. The court may be adopted highway, unadopted, or owned by the council as housing land. Those three legal states produce three different answers to "can we resurface it?". A household that wants only its own bay marked more clearly is not the same customer as a group of neighbours who want the whole court rebuilt. The quote form can introduce you to professionals. The professionals still need to know who can authorise the dig. Write "my front garden only" or "shared court, neighbours aware" so the scope is obvious.
Front gardens, where they exist, are often small. A single car, parallel or nose-in, is the realistic brief. Two cars usually mean an overhang or a loss of the path to the door. Measure. The June 2025 dropped-kerb pack's turning dimensions apply in cases where planning permission is required. Many Orchard Park fronts will not meet a generous diagram. That does not ban every existing arrangement. It does warn you not to promise yourself an in-and-out drive.
New crossings need Hull City Council approval. The council's page limits construction to approved contractors and treats an unauthorised crossing as an offence. Replacing slabs inside your own boundary, behind an existing approved crossing, can be the private half only. The dropped kerbs page separates the two halves. The June 2025 pack's classified-road test still has to be asked of the road you open onto. Estate distributor roads and quiet closes are not automatically the same class.
The Planning Portal's rule on front gardens over five square metres is national. It is summarised in the planning guide. A small close garden may fall under or over that area. Take a tape measure. Permeable construction is one way through the national test. It is not a way around a missing crossing approval.
Materials on an estate street
Asphalt is common because it is a single surface and because the public crossing, where the council specifies one, is usually tarmac. Blocks are easier to cut around awkward gulleys and to lift when a water company needs the pipe. Resin-bound gravel looks tidy on a small rectangle if the base is rigid and clean. Loose gravel is a poor neighbour on a court where stones reach drains and prams. Imprinted concrete wants room to pour and a way for the wagon to stand. On a tight close the wagon may have to pump, which the quote should mention.
No figure is given here. The cost guide explains why this website refuses to print a price per square metre. Asking for quotes is free. The professional's price is theirs. This website does not install the drive.
Ground and the city's flood account
Hull's local flood strategy describes the city as predominantly reclaimed marshland, with runoff from higher ground to the west moving toward the urban area. Orchard Park is in the city, on the northern side, not in the Cottingham and Willerby sentence of that document. Plot drainage still matters. A court that already ponds will pond worse under a new sealed skin unless the falls are redesigned. Ask where the water goes today, and write that into the request.
Use the BGS Geology Viewer for the superficial deposits under the close. Do not borrow a specification from the Humber foreshore photograph used on the home page, or from a chalk cutting elsewhere. If the formation is soft, the quote should say the dig is provisional.
Bricknell is to the south-west. Kingswood and Bransholme are further east and north-east. They are separate URLs.
Questions about Orchard Park
Are Ashthorpe, Gorthorpe and Dodthorpe the only streets you cover?
No. They are the streets in the photographs, so the page stays honest about what the camera saw. A request can name any Orchard Park street. The professional still has to look at that street.
Can the whole court be done through one enquiry?
You can describe a court. Whether one household can instruct work on shared land is a title question, not a website question. Get the owner's permission before anyone starts.
Does Hull Driveways send an estimator?
No. This site does not employ estimators and does not install the drive. Local professionals may contact you if you send the form.
